arrogance of a group of people (GM's board of directors) will eventually be paid for by US taxpayers. GM employs the largest "corporate" workforce in the world. The US Government cannot afford to have GM file for bankruptcy protection. One day, GM will approach the US Government and ask for it's bailout. The first aim of any business is to sell it's product or service for more than it costs. US Military has a $100 billion budget. There are few things that come out of that budget that make any money. US Military, like GM, is simply too large to go away. It's too ingrained into the social infrastructure. It's collapse would destroy the US economy.
